Position: PHP5 LAMP Engineer – Backend Focus

At playlist.com you create, share and manage playlists of music you find on the web. Playlist.com allows you to play your music on any site including Myspace, Facebook, Friendster, hi5 etc.. We are the largest music search engine on the web; ranked in the top 200 US sites, with over 20 million registered users ­ and we're already profitable! Join us in downtown Palo Alto, the heart of Silicon Valley.

We're looking for a top-notch PHP engineer to extend our feature set.
- Develop killer Web 2.0 features that will make music easier to find, listen to and organize
- Assist in the migration of our site from PHP4 Drupal to a custom PHP5 MVC framework
- Provide input on technical and product issues as they arise

Minimum Required Skills:
- Extensive Object-Oriented PHP5 experience – OO MVC framework experience a plus
- MySQL 4.1 & 5.0 experience – previous experience working in a replicated database environment a big plus
- Experience implementing standards-compliant JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Smarty Template Engine or equivalent system experience
- Hands-on experience with PHP, Python and/or JAVA in a large-scale environment
- Ability to write efficient queries and optimize database-intensive applications
- Knowledge of design patterns, object-oriented frameworks in a service-oriented architecture
- CS degree or related major

Nice to have:
- Experience in a high-volume (1MM+ daily page views) social networking site
- Database caching (especially memcached) experience
- Source control experience using CVS or Subversion
